Pioneer Coffee Roasting Company Cle Elum, WA Day 17 of the 100 Cups of Coffee in 100 Days Project

Comfortable Place to Drink Coffee

Pioneer Coffee Roasting Company has been in business since 1990. They have two locations one in Cle Elum and one in North Bend.  My visit was to the Cle Elum location.

Walking into Pioneer Coffee in Cle Elum reminds me of walking into someone’s funky living room. Warm and inviting with lots of comfortable seating options. During my visit there was a steady stream of people stopping in and picking up coffee and pastries. I really liked the décor and the atmosphere here. Plus the Wi-FI is strong.  A number of people were enjoying coffee and conversations. I claimed an oversized chair as my base of operations. Comfortable space to enjoy coffee and have conversation. Check.

Lots of Options

The coffee bar is large and has a large menu board behind it. There is a wide selection of beverages available for you to try. I of course ordered my drip black coffee. The server was not sure what to do with my request for a mug and not a paper cup. I had to ask twice for my mug.  This was confusing to me as the shop is such a relaxing place to hang out. It would seem to me that they would want to encourage people to enjoy the space. The pastries looked enticing so of course I had to order one.  Once I had secured my coffee and scone I went back to my seat.

The coffee was good. It was served from an air pot and it appeared to be the Pioneer Coffee House Blend. The temperature was a bit on the cool side. By watching people, I noticed that the vast majority of beverages that day were espresso beverages or cold brew. The scone was quite good. The coffee was good not great but I would certainly order another cup and visit again. Remember my taste is for big and bold brewed coffee.  I did not try the espresso which seemed to be very popular.

Coffee Beans, Snacks, and Wine oh MY!

There is also a nice selection of wines, coffee beans, teas, chocolate covered coffee beans, snacks, and more.  If you are traveling on I-90 Pioneer Coffee Roasters is a good place for you to stop, stretch your legs, grab some coffee and other refreshments.  Then you can get back on the highway and continue on your journey.
