If you’re just tuning in to this year’s Holiday Gift Guide, welcome! If you’ve been following along for the entire series, welcome back.
Last year we featured Staheekum shoes, and I’m so excited that they are back for another round. Last year I wrote about their Women’s Cascades and their men’s version, the Greenwood. They were instant loves in our home, and I’m happy to report back to you almost an exact year later: They still look new! Both my husband and I have worn ours almost daily in the fall and even winter, so they’ve gotten a lot of action. They’ve held up wonderfully.
This year though, I got to try out their Women’s Eden Flannel. It’s a classic moccasin style, with a thick outsole that makes wearing these shoes practical on a daily basis – not just at home.
Staheekum does a lot for the environment, including planting a tree through Trees for the Future for every slipper purchased. They have also started a new line of Sustainable Products, including the cutest slippers for kids. Their new sustainable line is made with faux fur, and uses recycled water bottles for the lining. How cool is that?
They’ve also started campaigning and spreading more information about how we, as customers, can become more eco-friendly. I shared a few weeks ago about how David Attenborough’s latest documentary really touched me. Since having children, we as a family, have made huge moves in becoming “greener” and I love seeing brands making changes, and spreading information.
“Staheekum believes we have an environmental responsibility to produce products with quality, durability, and versatility. We are constantly seeking out new innovative materials that are responsibly sourced to include in our products.”
But they go further than just water bottle lining. They use sustainable suede, Ortholite Hybrid insoles that feature 5% recycled rubber, and 15% production waste for 20% eco-content. To read more about their moves toward sustainability, click here.
This local Kent business is gaining more traction every day, and honestly, I get it. Their shoes and slippers are incredibly well priced, and can fit just about any budget. Their products hold up being worn in the great outdoors, but also look great while doing so.
I’m so excited to keep trying my new moccasins out!
Now that Staheekum has a few kids’ options, there really is something for the whole family. If your grandmother or grandfather always have cold feet, grab them a pair of these warm and easy to slip on, Brush Knit Slippers. The man in your life wants a simple, chic, and easy to throw on shoe that can take him hiking or to work? The Baker will check all of those boxes.
When buying though, I do recommend sizing DOWN in their shoes as they do run larger than normal. My husband who has quite wide feet, sized down and has enough space in his Greenwoods. They also offer gift wrap and the option to send a custom message in the gift box, which adds such a nice personal touch if you’re planning on ordering for someone who doesn’t live near you, or due to social-distancing.
