For Them: 2021 Holiday Gift Guide

This category is one that no matter who you are shopping for, they make for universally great gifts. From skincare made in Spokane to hand stamped clothing and DIY leather goods…I’m covering it all in this section!

cocktail cards

Cocktail Cards

To kick things off, I want to start with Cocktail Cards! Crowdfunded back in 2020, these fun cards are a collection of over 100 interactive recipes. Each card includes ingredients, step-by-step instructions, history, flavor profile, and a QR code that you can scan for an instructional video. This is such a fun gift for those who are cocktail fans themselves, or who are wanting to up their drink game. Are you ready to learn more about founder AJ Rantz, his method in developing recipes, and the history of The Rusty Nail? Check out our podcast episode with him here!

orcas leather goods

Orcas Island Leather Goods

Maybe you’re shopping for someone who doesn’t drink alcohol, but loves to try something new and exciting? Orcas Island Leather Goods is your next stop. If you followed us along on Instagram earlier this year, you’ll remember when I was working on my first leather DIY, the Stripe Islander Bag, and had a lot of laughs while completing it. With smaller items like keychains or wallets, these DIY kits come with everything you need to get started. Mindy and Mike are the wife and husband combination behind this new brand, who are looking to inspire all of us to get our hands dirty while trying something new. Listen to our episode with them here to learn more about their spontaneous move to Orcas Island, their passion for life, and what it was like to open a business in the middle of COVID.

P.S. you can use our code: EWS2021 for a discount on every purchase, like this leather chessboard.

weekend made

Weekend Made

Do you want to know what upgraded my life this year? Pajamas. And no, I’m not joking. Weekend Made pajamas specifically. Haley Brothers is the mind and creator behind this new pajama brand based in Washington. She recently launched this sleepwear line with minimal thread-to-skin contact in a natural modal/lyocell blend that is soft as butter, with stretch. Their pajamas are classic, elevated staples that are comfortable for everyone, and a ‘safe’ wear for those with sensory issues. When Haley reached out to us, I knew we needed to try these pajamas as parents of a child with sensory needs. They are meant to fit snug, so I would recommend sizing down! Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I should include this in the gift guide because I believe we all need to buy ourselves a pair of them instead of gifting them away. Check out their kid’s line here, women’s here, and their holiday line here

Use our code: EWS30 now through December 14th for a 30% discount at Weekend Made.

botanical bee

Botanical Bee Apothecary

Heading over to Spokane, I’ve got another brand that you’ve seen me share a lot on our Instagram page: Botanical Bee Apothecary. If you know someone who loves skincare, struggles with their skin, or likes to hike: make sure to check them out! Earlier this year I was lucky enough to meet the daughter/mother team on their farm where they grow almost all of their ingredients for their small-batch skincare. Using only high-quality, cold-pressed, solvent-free plant-based oils and butters – their line can only be described as lush. If you know someone who loves to hike (or spends a lot of time moving their body) but gets aches and pains, the Muscle Marvel Salve is an easy solution. When I tore a ligament a few months ago, I was rubbing this on my foot daily for pain relief. And as someone who has adult acne, this cleansing oil has been a saving grace in my cabinet (they have options for mature/balanced skin as well). Make sure to check out their entire line for travel kits, full facial care, eye serums and so much more!

P.S. using the code: EXPLOREWA will save you 10% on your purchase. Don’t forget to listen in on our podcast to learn more about Dena and Chrys!

leather and wood

Leather & Wood Designs

Maybe you’re hoping to gift handmade jewelry this year? Not to worry, I’ve got you covered! Well, Leather & Wood Designs has you covered. Owner and creator Alexandra is based in Yakima but has multiple pop-ups so you’ll want to follow her on Instagram for more information. Personally, I own the All Brass Rainbow Arches and Colored Brass Circle Earrings but am secretly lusting after her Monstera Dangle earrings! With over 520 Etsy sales alone and 5-star reviews, these small-batch, handmade-to-order jewelry pieces are a fun gift for anyone who wants to brighten anyone’s day!

t-shirt

Heirloom Apparel & Design

Shelby Campbell, owner and artist of Heirloom Apparel & Design, is all about creating wearable and stick-able art that can be a part of your daily life. Shelby is from Leavenworth and finds inspiration for her art (including our Peaks Water Bottle and our Triangle sticker) from the abundance of beauty that surrounds her home and community.

Some of my favorites that really show off Washington State are her Mountains & Stars T-Shirt, which just happened to be one of the first designs she ever created for Heirloom and is printed in Leavenworth. I’m also loving her WA State Sticker, as well as the Mount Rainier Trail Sticker. Come learn more about Shelby in episode 49 of our podcast!

away with words

Away With Words Bookshop

Heading over to Poulsbo, Washington, we have a bath and bookshop for you: Away With Words Bookshop & Apothecary. Located in the historic downtown, it’s easy to get lost in this wonderland of books and self-care. From great gift options like self-care boxes, books with a tea drop to match, to Book Boxes that are hand-selected, assembled and shipped right from their shop! I love that you can easily shop online with them, and how fun their Instagram is.

Their subscription boxes make great gifts:

“We recommend that people subscribe for the quarterly option for gift giving and they can present the receiver with the December free gift box.”

apparel

Contour Creative

Last, but very not least: Contour Creative. Shirts, tanks, leggings, adventure gear, owner and artist, Devan, has it all. Each item is carefully selected with a rubber stamp that she carved herself, rolled with ink, and lovingly pressed to create one-of-a-kind items in her in-home studio. With partnerships ranging from Kula Cloth to Plain Valley Nordic Team and Rescue: Freedom, Devan has such a light about her that it’s impossible to not want to work with her. Which is why we asked her to design a tank top and a t-shirt for us earlier this year! Don’t forget to use the code: EWS15 to enjoy a discount, and listen to us sit down with Devan in episode 10 from 2020!

“I hope you enjoyed this fun list of items! Make sure to check out our entire gift guide here. While you’re reading, make sure to tune into our podcast to learn more about several of our featured businesses. We’d love to see you share this gift guide with your friends and family this holiday season, share the love below.”
