CONSERVATION IMAGING: SEEING THE HANIWA WARRIOR ANEW

Join us for an exclusive member-only lecture series at SAM. Our conservators, who manage a collection of 25,000 objects, will offer insights and the latest findings. Be there every last Wednesday, September-November, from 6:30-7:30 pm.

Ever heard of Haniwa? They’re these awesome clay pieces that folks put around big tombs in Japan way back from 250-600 CE. The designs are super varied, from simple shapes to detailed humans – like the famous Haniwa Warrior at SAM. Join Geneva Griswold as she dives deep into the cool history of this ancient figure using some high-tech gadgets like X-rays and UV lights. It’s a journey from the past with a modern twist! Don’t miss out!
