Oyster Shucking & Kayaking Tour

Our Kayaking & Oyster Shucking Tour is a 4 hour adventure leaving from our location at Yelvik’s Beach. We will paddle around breathtaking Pulali Point and into Dabob Bay viewing seals, eagles and other wildlife before arriving at a small secluded beach jam packed with oysters. We will eat lunch or have a snack, conduct an oyster shucking tutorial, and harvest your limit of fresh Hood Canal oysters right off the beach! Along the way your Marine Biologist Guide, Christina Maloney, will teach you about the Hood Canal and the wildlife we encounter. Bring your camera as we usually see lots of eagles and a diverse array of other marine life! Marine mammals are a common sight on this tour including harbor seals and porpoises, and occasionally we see humpback whales; orca; California Sea Lions and Steller Sea Lions.
Bring your own lunch or order a pic-nic lunch prepared by The Crow’s Nest Bistro ($17.50 each) when you book. Lunches come with a hearty meat or vegi tortilla wrap, fresh fruit, dessert, and a soda or water. If you have dietary restrictions or wrap preferences let us know so we can forward your choices to the restaurant.
Wear shoes that can get wet. Flip-flops and slip-on sandals are not advisable as there are many sharp oysters on the beach. Watershoes, boots, or old tennis shoes work great. This tour is not advisable for children under 7. Bring a WDFW shellfish license to bring your oysters home. Licenses can be purchased at the Brinnon General Store, Hood Canal Outfitters in Hoodsport or online.
Spring brings us some windy days, so if you’re visiting the area this time of year we recommend booking this tour in the beginning of your stay.
