Please note the change of date and time for this program.

Whether growing food or flowers, in a backyard raised bed or on acres of farmland, understanding the fundamentals of seed saving, harvesting, and sharing will lead you to a successful garden plan. The process of saving seeds has been practiced for years and the benefits are well known for agriculture biodiversity and a healthy, sustainable food supply. Join the Sammamish Valley Grange community, Tuesday evening, March 5, for a free education program, hosted at 21 Acres in Woodinville. The evening begins with the launch of the eighth annual Sammamish Valley Alliance Seed Swap. Come early at 6:30 p.m. to visit the seed table outside the 21 Acres Farm Market entrance. Bring seeds to share and be ready to swap.

The program “Jump Into Spring With Everything Seeds” with presenter Marni Swart of Growing Roots Together, begins indoors at 7 p.m. Learn about seed saving techniques and best practices, and get information and resources on growing your 2024 garden. We’ll also hear from Ansley Roberts, 21 Acres Farm Manager, who will help you demystify the labels on your seed packets. Organic, hybrid and open pollinated seed will be explained and you’ll learn how to choose what’s best. There will be time after the presentation for Q&A with your farm and gardening questions! Then, stay a few minutes after the program to continue perusing the Seed Swap table before you head for home.

The program is free and open to the public. Registration in advance on Eventbrite is encouraged, but not required. The program is presented by Sammamish Valley Grange and Sammamish Valley Alliance (SVA) with thanks to partner organization 21 Acres. 21 Acres is located at 13701 NE 171st St. Woodinville, WA 98072.
