Film and Speaker Series presents: Homelessness and the Meaning of Home

The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center is honored to have University of Washington professor Josephine Ensign discuss the socio-economic complexities of homelessness on Thursday, May 8, 7-9 PM.

Loss of a home due to financial difficulties, divorce, illness, or natural disasters like wildfires is a growing problem. Often seen as an urban issue, homelessness also affects suburban and rural areas in Washington State. What are the historical roots of homelessness, and what lessons can we learn? What does home mean to us, and how can we apply these meanings to address homelessness in our communities? Author and professor Josephine Ensign leads a values clarification exercise with individual writing time. She shares her research on the history of homelessness in Seattle and discusses what these stories teach us about the current crisis throughout our state and country.
