Established in 2010, the Cowlitz Black Bears are a collegiate summer baseball team based in Longview, Washington. They compete in the West Coast League (WCL), a premier wood-bat league showcasing top collegiate talent across North America. The Black Bears play their home games at David Story Field, located on the campus of Lower Columbia College.
Since their inception, the Black Bears have been dedicated to player development and community engagement. They provide affordable, family-friendly entertainment for baseball enthusiasts in the Cowlitz County area. Their games feature a lively atmosphere with various promotions and events, making them fun outings for fans of all ages.
The team has a strong track record of success, with numerous players advancing to professional baseball. Notably, 75 Black Bears alumni have been drafted into Major League Baseball, highlighting the team’s commitment to nurturing talent.
Springfield Drifters
The Springfield Drifters, established in 2021, are a collegiate summer baseball team based in Springfield, Oregon. They compete in the West Coast League (WCL), a premier wood-bat league showcasing top collegiate talent across North America. The Drifters play their home games at the newly constructed Hamlin Sports Complex at Hamlin Middle School, providing fans with a modern and engaging baseball experience.
Since their inaugural season in 2022, the Drifters have been dedicated to player development and community engagement. They offer affordable, family-friendly entertainment for baseball enthusiasts in the Springfield area. Their games feature a lively atmosphere with various promotions and events, making them fun outings for fans of all ages.
The Drifters are committed to fostering local talent and have seen several players advance to professional baseball. Notably, three players from the 2023 rosterโBridger Holmes (Oregon State), Bryce Boettcher (University of Oregon), and Hunter Dryden (Whitworth University)โwere selected in the Major League Baseball Draft
