Animal Parents: 2021 Holiday Gift Guide

Years ago, I remember reading an article that claimed more people in Seattle had pets than children. While I don’t know if this was actually a true statement, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that we all know someone who has a pet. And we all know someone who has a pet that they love like a child, which is why this year we decided to add a whole section devoted to those people!

Puddles Barkery

Puddles Barkery: natural dog treats from cakes to biscuits that ship across the US. Based in Seattle and available in several retail locations, Puddles Barkery reminds all of us that our four-legged Fido friends also deserve to treat themselves. What stands out about Puddles is how involved they are in their local community, sourcing flour from Shepard’s Grain and packaging from a Woodinville-based business, Pacific Bag, inc. as well as donating 15% of all hat sales to a local animal non-profit each quarter.

Pupups! If you didn’t catch our podcast episode with owner Raina, you’ll want to give it a listen now. These dirt AND waterproof leashes and collars mean you won’t have to worry about washing or replacing them after your mountain adventures with your pup. With fun designs like gnomes and buffalo plaid, Raina pours her heart into this business. While her website claims to donate one leash/collar for every one purchased, she revealed to us that it’s oftentimes an entire box that she sends to shelters. “Made for dogs who hike, swim, and love to get muddy, no adventure is too big for Pupups!”

Wobbly Ranch

Now, this third business isn’t one specifically for pet owners, but for animal lovers in general. Wobbly Ranch will make you laugh! At the ranch, you can attend goat yoga (which I’ve always wanted to try), but you’ll want to keep an eye on their website — because of COVID they do not have any scheduled classes. But don’t let that stop you from having Remi, Ruthie & the whole goat gang joining your next family, work, or friend Zoom meeting. Wobbly Ranch wants to create a home for all the animals out there that are just a little wobbly.

“I hope you enjoyed this fun list of items! Make sure to check out our entire gift guide here. While you’re reading, make sure to tune into our podcast to learn more about several of our featured businesses. We’d love to see you share this gift guide with your friends and family this holiday season, share the love below.”
