5 of the Best 4th of July Activities in the South Sound Area

The 4th of July is one of the most celebrated and hyped up holidays of the year, as families come together to burst fireworks with friends and family to celebrate the Independence of America.

I’ve compiled five events to celebrate this coming 4th of July with family and friends, which is both affordable and fun for the whole family!

1. Tacoma’s Freedom Fair

Located on Tacoma’s famous Ruston waterfront, Tacoma’s Freedom Fair has many activities to offer. It if free to the public, and it features a wide range of amazing food, an amazing fireworks display, and the airshow that you won’t want to miss. You’ll be able to shop locally by the vendors who sell cute accessories, as well as witness a hot rods show, where car-fanatics show off gorgeous, vintage automobiles. Tacoma’s Freedom Fair is the most popular festival in Tacoma, so you don’t want to miss out on the fun!

2. Federal Way’s Red, White, and Blues Festival

Federal Way’s annual Red, White, and Blues Festival at Celebration Park is definitely not one to miss out on. Starting at 4pm with free admission, various blues and classic rock musicians play live music, as there is yummy food vendors, field activities that kids will love, and a spectacular fireworks display. Adults and kids alike will spend their 4th of July having a blast!

3. “Miles for Meso” 4th of July 5K Fun Run/Walk

Wanting to stay home and watch the firework display from your house 4th of July night? No worries, there’s morning activities as well! Annual Washington Memorial’s “Miles for Meso” allows for adults and children to walk/run for those in Washington State who have died of Mesothelioma for as cheap as $20. All proceeds go to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, to help patients and loved ones affected by the disease, as well as for new upcoming research, and grants. The race starts at 9am at the Federal Way Community Center. There are also fun prizes and awards given to each respectable age group. So if you’re not into the party aspect of the 4th, do something charitable and run/walk for a good cause!

4. 4th of July WAVE Grand Firework Show over the Sinclair Inlet

Living over the Narrows Bridge around the Gig Harbor/Bremerton area, the views of the Sound and the Firework display is just gorgeous! However, the 4th of July is about being around people, so try WAVE’s Grand Firework Show! As over 60,000 people go for the free admission, people love the view the beautiful view of the Fireworks from Port Orchard, the Naval Shipyard, and Bremerton. Starting at 10:30pm, bring your family, friends, and s.o’s and enjoy the show!

5. 4th of July Festival in Auburn, WA

Starting at 11am, Les Grove Park in Auburn get’s packed with families as they wander through the park looking for great food vendors, fun activities for the family to enjoy, and live music. With only a $5 wristband, you are able to purchase unlimited activities (Inflatable rides, bungee trampolines, mini golf, etc.). Families will be leaving here with a smile on their faces, full belly’s, and a memorable 4th of July!
